Barack Hussein Obama is an American lawyer, book author and politician who served as the 44 th President of the United States. He was born in Hawaii in 1961. His father and namesake was a Kenyan student who met his American mother, Ann Dunham, as they were studying in Honolulu. They got married in early 1961 when they were 24 and 18 years old respectively.
