Cleopatra (EIE): Personality Type Analysis

Cleopatra VII Philopator was the last active pharaoh of Ptolemaic dynasty who ruled after Alexander the Great (SLE). Cleopatra is said to be the most beautiful woman in the history of human race, who successfully ruled the hearts of the most powerful men of that time. Her beauty and aesthetic appeal has been a subject of discussion and an inspiration for art in popular Western culture.

Depicted in history as a seductress and manipulator, Cleopatra desired to project a magnanimous persona of herself when she eventually rose to power in Ptolemaic Egypt. She was a woman of surpassing beauty and utilized this as to her seductive appearance and oozing charisma made her a very popular and central figure of beauty at the time. Striking, she also possessed a most charming voice and a knowledge of how to make herself agreeable to everyone. Cleopatra was also known to be an incredibly persuasive of in her behavior towards others, always pertaining towards a certain emotional stimulation in her interactions with others. There was also sweetness in the tones of her voice, described "like an instrument of many strings, she could readily turn to whatever language she pleased". Cleopatra was far more confident in expressing her emotional states externally onto others, rather than regularly exercising her willpower around others. This makes a far greater case for someone with E1, as Cleopatra was highly confident in her performance as a politician rather than regularly exercise her willpower and have a true deeper connection to her true ambitions.

Nevertheless, this paints a very detailed mental picture of someone of an individual with bold and valued E and F, showing her willingness towards manipulating the emotions of others to get exactly what she desires from other people. This is more reminiscent of the passionate and meaningful emotions emitted by the revolutionary and world rejecting Beta types. More specifically the EIE and IEI types who are more affluent in the communication of meaningful emotions and esoteric visions of beauty. This is in contrast to the SLE and LSI types who are more driven by their ideological principles and have a great deal of certainty on how they want to impact the world around them.

Intellectually speaking, Cleopatra possessed a certain mental acuity and immense creativity, which is unusual for what is usually expected from a 'tooth-and-nail' warrior who sought to control and conquer by any means necessary. Instead, Cleopatra perceived these visions of enlightenment and prosperity that she sought to share with everyone universally, as if every person within the nation was tied to the same destiny. She united people together based on mobilizing others based on her charisma and abstract ideals. Cleopatra was generally seen as a goddess and somewhat of a prophet to others, yet to those who personally knew her, she was materialistic, manipulative and highly self-centered. She hid behind her prophetic persona, removed herself from everyone else by becoming a divine aristocrat and 'puppeting' the individuals around her with memetic visions of grandeur. This makes more sense for Cleopatra to have T2, establishing a specific intellectualism or philosophy that was more directly designed to motivate others to action through meaningful change.

Interestingly enough, Cleopatra was distraught with the idea of living a simple existence and always sought the much greater things in life; more specifically fame, fortune and power. She was restless and constantly motivated towards getting into a position of power and fame that led herself on the path to eventually becoming an influential politician. She aspired to become a queen and had a driving need to fulfill their vision of holding power over others. Conclusively, something that eventually led to luscious hedonistic pleasures in a society of aristocrats. Cleopatra also had a strong ambition towards aspiring to perfection in her day to day affairs and wanted to present herself as 'larger than life', which makes sense for some for someone with S4.

By extension, Cleopatra was a very mercurial individual who sought to craft meaningful and creative emotions to stimulate others to action, rather than immediately force plans and projects in the moment to stimulate an emotional reaction out of others. Despite being seen as a powerful and shrewd by many of her fellow countrymen, this was a result of Cleopatra's distorted image of a seemingly omnipotent goddess of beauty; Isis. However, Cleopatra was realistically a more boisterous and wild woman who was emotionally vibrant and competitive. Cleopatra wanted to be seen as a 'creative visionary' and a 'goddess' by others and sought to communicate her values of meaning and passion to the people of Ptolemaic Egypt. This fits far better with someone who had L5, desperately wanting to have a consistency of their ideology, yet lacked the internal consistency in the messages/causes that Cleopatra wanted to communicate.

Cleopatra was a shrewd, powerful and authoritative political figure when she acquired the throne at the age of 18, following the demise of her father and remained the ruler until her death. Brilliant to look upon and to listen to, Cleopatra was said to possess "a power to subjugate everyone, even a love-sated man already past his prime". It is interesting to note that in a male-dominated society, Cleopatra not only managed to hold the country together but served as a powerful leader as any of her male counterparts. This accurately reflects a depiction of an individual with F6, being bold enough to put oneself out into the open and declare their desires to the world, yet lacking in determination to push oneself out of an uncomfortable scenario to get what she wants from the world.

Thus far what has been mentioned about Cleopatra clearly points towards E1, T2, S4, L5, and F6. In conclusion, I believe Cleopatra is a very good representative of the EIE type of information metabolism.
