François Hollande (SEI): Personality Type Analysis

François Gérard Georges Nicolas Hollande is a French civil servant, lawyer and politician who served as the President of France since elected in 2012 as the PS (Socialist Party) candidate, defeating the incumbent president, Nicolas Sarkozy ( LIE ), until leaving office in May 2017. Like the majority of French presidents and prime ministers since the 1970s, Hollande is an alumnus of the ultra-elite ENA graduate school. His classmates there included Dominique de Villepin (later Jacques Chirac’s ( SEE ) last prime minister) and Ségolène Royal (defeated by Sarkozy in the presidential election of 2007; Hollande's Minister of Ecology), who became his domestic partner and with whom Hollande has 4 children. On the one hand Hollande’s political career has been typical of his generation in the sense that he slowly climbed up the ranks of the PS through a succession of legislative and executive elective offices, until becoming First Secretary of the Socialist Party (that is, its nomina...

Nero (SEI): Personality Type Analysis

Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus , originally Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus, usually known simply as Nero , was the 5 th Roman Emperor, reigning from 54 to 68. Along with his uncle Caligula ( EIE ), he is the most (in)famous of all emperors, with the reputation of having insanely set fire to Rome, singing while it was burning, and cruelly executing Christians whom he made scapegoats for it. From a scholarly historical perspective, though, most of the above is dubious. Nobody questions that there was a devastating fire in Rome in 64, and that there were rumours at the time that Nero had started it himself. There is evidence that the small Christian community in Rome was persecuted in the aftermath. For a Socionics analysis of his type, I will focus on what seems historically certain about him and ignore the “mad pyromaniac” version. Nero’s name at birth was Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus, his father a member of a family that had been prestigious during the Republic, his mothe...

Gisele Bündchen (SEI): Personality Type Analysis

Gisele Caroline Bündchen is a now semi-retired Brazilian fashion model - a 'supermodel' -  and occasional actress and singer, now also active as a goodwill ambassador for the UN. Her career started at 14 when she was spotted at a shopping mall in S ã o Paulo, having more or less continually progressed afterwards, her big break coming in 2000 when she got a US$ 25 million contract with Victoria's Secret. She now resides in Boston with her husband, football player Tom Brady, and their two children. For analysing Gisele's type, the best information available is in the form of interviews, written or in video, and occasional remarks by those who know her, besides what is known of her preferred lifestyle choices. Although there is a considerable number of interviews with her in English, I have found that in most of them she gives pretty much the same answers to the same questions, never going very deep.   I have however noticed that in the interviews she gives to the B...

George W. Bush (ESI): Personality Type Analysis

Unlike other ESIs in this gallery, George Walker Bush , the 43rd President of the United States, would not be described by many people, also not by himself, as an 'intellectual'. Yet, this Yale history graduate has been described as a keen reader of biographies, allegedly his favorite reading. He also has shown a personal-relationship side to international politics, (in)famously saying that he knew he could trust Vladimir Putin ( LSI)  after looking deeply into his eyes, and asking the Brazilian president for an evaluation of Hugo Chavez (SLE) in the same fashion, that is, what was Chavez like if you looked deeply into his eyes. This pattern of approaching international relations from the perspective of the character of individuals is consistent with George W. Bush's chief strength as a businessman and politician: namely, his skill in establishing rapports with individuals and coming across as a regular guy with whom you could drink a beer, in a way that co...
